State Trooper Injured, Suspect Arrested After Pursuit on US 287 in Waxahachie

Families in Waxahachie got an unexpected scare Friday afternoon when Waxahachie High School briefly went into lockdown following reports of police activity nearby.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident began around 3 p.m. on August 15 when a state trooper attempted to stop a red GMC pickup on US 287 near Black Champ Road for a traffic violation. The driver slowed down but then tried to flee on foot after a passenger jumped out. The trooper pursued and attempted to arrest the driver, identified as 28-year-old Jose Molina of Fort Worth. DPS says Molina resisted, and during the struggle, the trooper sustained minor injuries but was still able to take him into custody. Molina faces charges including evading arrest, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana. He was booked into the Ellis County Jail. The passenger who ran off has not been identified. The trooper was treated at a local hospital. The scene caused ripple effects for Waxahachie residents. With the chase happening so close to Waxahachie High School, families received alerts about an “incident,” and the school briefly locked down as a precaution, not to mentioned temporary blocked traffic in the area.
