Family Targeted in Midlothian Arson Seeks Justice and Safety
Crime Stoppers of Ellis County is asking for the public’s help after an arson incident in Midlothian on August 12.
A Midlothian family says they are living in fear after an arson attack on their home in the Rosebud community. The fire was set in the early morning hours of August 12 while the family was asleep.
According to a GoFundMe started by Mylah Rivera, her sister happened to be awake around 1 a.m. and spotted flames at the front of the house before they spread.
The family believes this was not an isolated incident. In the fundraiser, Rivera describes a pattern of racial harassment since moving to the neighborhood six years ago. On Instagram, Rivera also shared that the neighborhood’s homeowners association offered no support after the fire. Instead, she says, they issued her family a violation notice for the damage to their garage door caused by the flames.
Crime Stoppers of Ellis County is now sharing video of a suspect tied to the case and asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the P3Tips app, https://www.P3Tips.com or by calling 972-937-PAYS (7297). Information leading to an arrest could earn a reward of up to $1,000.
