Waxahachie Marks 175 Years with Birthday Bash at Railyard Park
Waxahachie turned 175 this week, and the city threw a party worthy of the milestone. Hundreds of residents gathered at Railyard Park on Friday night for music, food, community fun, and a spectacular drone show that lit up the sky.
Mayor Billie Wallace, Interim City Manager Ricky Boyd, and State Representative Brian Harrison opened the evening with speeches reflecting on Waxahachie’s history and its bright future. Their words set the tone for a celebration that was as much about community as it was about history.
The crowd was full of families, friends, and longtime locals who shared what they love about Waxahachie. Kids danced on stage, neighbors cooled off with lemonade, donuts, and ice cones, and special event t-shirts were sold to support the Ellis County Museum.
As the sun went down, the main event began: a drone show sponsored by Citizens National Bank of Texas. The performance drew cheers and applause as glowing formations painted Waxahachie’s 175-year story across the night sky.
It was a celebration that blended history, pride, and small-town spirit — a reminder of what makes Waxahachie such a special place to call home.
