Final Week to Apply: Waxahachie Citizens Academy
This is the last week to apply for the Waxahachie Citizens Academy, a free six-month program running from September 2025 through February 2026. The academy gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at city government, with sessions on public safety, parks, infrastructure, and more.
The academy is designed to give people a behind-the-scenes look at how the city works. Participants will meet directly with city leaders and staff, tour facilities, and explore departments ranging from police and fire to parks, planning, and community services. Each session has its own theme, such as “We Protect Bravely” for public safety and “We Build Foundations” for infrastructure.
The class meets twice a month on Thursday mornings, and graduates will be recognized at a City Council meeting in early 2026. There’s no cost to join, but space is limited to just 25 participants.
