Waxahachie Moves Ahead With Railyard Park Parking Lot Project

Waxahachie is moving forward with a nearly $928,000 Railyard Park project that will add parking, dedicated food truck spots and shaded seating near downtown.
City Council approved a construction contract with Texas Standard Construction for an amount not to exceed $928,007.30. The project will be funded through the 2023 Parks CO Bond. The new parking area will be built on a 3.5-acre property the city previously purchased from the owner of Boyce Feed Store. Plans include 53 parking spaces and five food truck stalls with electrical hookups. That food truck setup could help keep College Street open during events, instead of using the street for vendors. The project also includes a paved trail connection, storm drainage, lighting, irrigation and a shade structure with tables and bench seating. One issue still on the city’s radar is restrooms. During the City Council meeting, Mayor Wallace emphasized that she would like to see restrooms added in that area in the near future, though they are not part of this contract. Waxahachie received 12 bids for the project, with Texas Standard Construction selected for the contract.
