On Saturday morning, around 11 a.m., the Waxahachie Police Department assisted the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office in serving an active warrant in the 100 block of Rusty Lane.
Serving the warrant led to an officer-involved shooting, which is believed to have been an accidental discharge.
The gunshot victim was transported for medical care with a non-life-threatening wound. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave.

One person was injured. WPD is conducting an internal investigation and has asked the Texas Rangers to conduct a separate one.
