Waxahachie to Host New Fantasy Festival After Screams’ Final Season

Those who used to spend October nights at Screams Halloween Theme Park were disappointed when organizers announced the park’s closure after 28 years. But Ellis County won’t be without Halloween fun—Scarborough Renaissance Festival has unveiled Scarborough’s Hollow, a brand-new fall fantasy festival set to bring magic, mischief, and autumn wonder to Waxahachie this October.
Scarborough Renaissance Festival is getting a fall makeover. For the first time, the beloved Waxahachie fairgrounds will host Scarborough’s Hollow, a brand-new immersive fantasy festival set to run Saturdays from October 11 through November 15, 2025, plus a special Halloween night event on Friday, October 31. The new festival replaces Screams Halloween Theme Park, which officially ended last year after 28 seasons of scares. According to festival organizers, the story follows three fairy sisters who have transformed Scarborough Village into an enchanted realm of light, shadow, and mischief. Guests can expect live entertainment, artisan shops, themed food and drink, and plenty of interactive activities for families. Costumes are encouraged, as long as they’re family-friendly. Scarborough Renaissance Festival, often called Scarborough Faire, has been a Waxahachie tradition since 1981, drawing thousands every spring for jousting, music, comedy, and historical fun. Scarborough’s Hollow will build on that atmosphere but add a seasonal twist with fairy lore, glowing lanterns, and a touch of spooky charm. The event will be open Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Halloween night from 5 p.m. to midnight. For more details, visit https://srfestival.com/hollow/
