Waxahachie marked Independence Day with a Fourth of July parade through the city Saturday morning.

Waxahachie started the Independence Day weekend Friday night with the Crape Myrtle Festival, ending the evening with a community fireworks at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.

Ellis County has a full Independence Day weekend ahead, with fireworks, parades, live music, family activities planned in Waxahachie and Midlothian.

Those who used to spend October nights at Screams Halloween Theme Park were disappointed when organizers announced the park’s closure after 28 years. But Ellis County won’t be without Halloween fun—Scarborough Renaissance Festival has unveiled Scarborough’s Hollow, a brand-new fall fantasy festival set to bring magic, mischief, and autumn wonder to Waxahachie this October.
