Midlothian Police Cite 8 Stores for Selling Nicotine to Minors in Compliance Sweep
Midlothian police say eight local stores were caught selling nicotine products to minors during a targeted enforcement operation this week.
According to the Midlothian Police Department, officers partnered with investigators from the Texas Comptroller’s Criminal Investigation Division on April 15 to run compliance checks across the city.
In total, 23 retail locations were inspected. Eight stores failed the checks by illegally selling nicotine products to underage buyers. Officers also found one business selling imported, unregulated nicotine products, which were seized.
The operation involved the department’s Problem Directed Response Team, Warrant Service Team, and state investigators. Police say the effort is part of ongoing work to address concerns about youth access to nicotine.
Police are asking the community to help by reporting suspicious activity. Residents can contact the Midlothian Police Department at 972-775-3333, message them on Facebook, or submit anonymous tips through Ellis County Crime Stoppers.
Officials say more compliance checks are expected in the future as enforcement continues.
