Matt Zajic Faces New Charge in Ongoing Ennis Retail Theft Investigation

Ellis County Commissioner Matt Zajic is facing a new charge connected to the same Ennis retailer where he was arrested earlier this month, according to the Ennis Police Department.
Police said Zajic turned himself in on Wednesday, June 24, after detectives became aware of additional alleged offenses during their ongoing investigation. The new warrant charges Zajic with **Organized Retail Theft** involving property valued at more than $100 but less than $750, which police described as a Class A misdemeanor. His bond was set at $1,500. The new charge follows Zajic’s June 11 arrest in connection with Theft of Property valued at more than $100 but less than $750, a Class B misdemeanor. In that case, police said the incident happened at a local retailer in Ennis. He was arraigned June 12 and received a $1,000 bond. Ennis police said the investigation remains active and that no further information is being released at this time. *All charges remain allegations. Zajic is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.*
