More Than 41,000 Ellis County Voters Have Already Cast Their Ballots

More than a quarter of Ellis County’s registered voters had voted by Sunday, October 25, wrapping up the first week of early voting ahead of the November 3 General and Special Election.

According to the Ellis County Elections Department, 39,525 people voted in person during the first seven days. Including 1,342 returned mail ballots, 101 provisional ballots and 180 limited ballots, the county’s reported total reached 41,148 — or 25.87% of its 159,076 registered voters.

Midlothian Conference Center remained the busiest polling location throughout the week, recording 13,791 in-person voters. Waxahachie’s Old High School followed with 11,337, while Red Oak Municipal Center recorded 8,552.

Another 4,185 people voted at the Ellis County Sub-Courthouse in Ennis, and 1,660 cast ballots at the Palmer ISD Annex Building.

Opening day brought the week’s largest turnout, with 7,913 in-person ballots in the updated report. Daily turnout eased through Thursday before picking up Friday, when 6,325 people voted. Saturday and Sunday added another 6,412 in-person ballots combined.

So far, Ellis County’s early voting turnout is running ahead of 2022 but behind the 2024 presidential election, based on in-person voter counts for the first seven days.

Older voters led the way early in the week, with those 65 and up making up the largest group Monday through Thursday. Voters ages 50–64 took the lead Friday and through the weekend.

For anyone who still needs to vote, early voting continues through Friday, October 30, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day during the final week. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
