Some Waxahachie Residents May Notice Discolored Water — City Says It’s Safe
Some Waxahachie neighborhoods may notice their tap water looking a little off-color or carrying an unusual odor this week. According to the City of Waxahachie, the changes are caused by natural shifts in the city’s water source and extra mineral deposits — not a safety concern.
The Utilities Department is already running routine flushing of the water system to help clear things up. City officials stressed that the discoloration and smell are only cosmetic and don’t affect health. “The mineral content and change in color do not pose a health threat and may only affect a few areas,” the city said in a public notice.
Waxahachie water is tested regularly under state rules, and the city says its protocols meet or exceed Texas Commission on Environmental Quality standards.
If you’re noticing water quality issues at your home or business, the city is asking residents to call the Utilities Department at 469-309-4326 to report it.
