Palmer Community Cleanup Fills 5 Dumpsters, Recycles 111+ Tires in One Weekend

The Palmer community showed up in a big way this weekend.
On April 25 and 26, the City of Palmer hosted a community cleanup event that brought in more than 135 visits from residents looking to clear out unwanted items — and the turnout made a major impact. By the end of the weekend, crews had filled five large dumpsters with trash and unwanted items. Residents also dropped off brush, tree limbs, and other yard waste at the city’s brush pile. The event also helped keep recyclable materials out of local landfills. Three loads of metal were hauled off for recycling, and more than 111 tires were collected for proper disposal and recycling. City leaders gave a big thank-you to Palmer’s Public Works team, who spent the weekend unloading vehicles and helping residents throughout the event. They even found time to have some fun with local kids during the cleanup. The city also recognized volunteers Lindsay Orr, her son Wyatt, and Cora Miller for lending a hand. Special shout-outs went to Team Tire’s Terri and Shane for helping collect and recycle tires, and to Jimmy Norman Sr. for hauling away three loads of metal.
