Weekend Events Around Ellis County: Fireworks, Live Music, BBQ, Cars and Family Fun
Ellis County has a packed weekend ahead, with concerts, car shows, fireworks, food trucks, soccer, BBQ and family-friendly events happening across Waxahachie, Ennis, Red Oak and Glenn Heights.
**Waxahachie**
Waxahachie has a full Saturday lineup.
Soccer fans can check out the **Impact City FC TST-style soccer tournament** at Nelson University from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Teams representing countries from around the world will compete in a fast-paced 3v3-style tournament. Proceeds support player scholarships and Impact FC’s upcoming mission trip to El Salvador.
Racing also returns to Texas Motorplex with the **Ultimate Bracket Series** on Friday and Saturday. Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.
BBQ lovers can head to Railport Brewing Company for the **Ellis A&M Club’s Pits of Fire Amateur BBQ Competition** at 4 p.m. The public is invited to sample entries and help choose the People’s Champion.
Former American Idol finalist **Casey James will bring his Me & My Guitar Tour** to The Texas Theater on Saturday at 7 p.m. The singer-songwriter is touring behind his first acoustic album.
Over at Railyard Park, the Waxahachie **Battle of the Bands & Car Show** runs from 6 to 10 p.m. The free event includes live local music, classic and custom cars, food trucks and craft beer.
On Sunday, the **Texas TCG Expo** comes to the Waxahachie Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with more than 250 vendor tables featuring Pokémon, One Piece, sports cards, collectibles, tattoos and more.
**Ennis**
Ennis will host its Freedom Fest on Saturday, starting with the **Red, White and Bike Parade** downtown.
The Downtown Ennis Bluebonnet Market runs from 8 a.m. to noon. Parade lineup begins at 9:30 a.m., and the Red, White and Bike Parade starts at 10 a.m. Families are invited to decorate bikes, scooters, wagons and more.
The evening festival begins at 6 p.m. at Veterans Park with free kids activities, food, treats and live music. The National Anthem, flyover and live music begin at 7:30 p.m., with fireworks set for dark.
Free shuttle service will run from Lions Memorial Stadium, located at 1405 W. Lake Bardwell Drive, beginning at 5:45 p.m. until the event ends.
**Red Oak**
Red Oak will celebrate with **Red Oak White & Blue** at Oaks Church, located at 777 S. I-35.
The free family event includes a live DJ, bounce houses, rides, food trucks, giveaways and live entertainment from All Funk Radio Show.
Onsite parking is available from 6 to 9 p.m. Vehicles will not be allowed into the Oaks Church parking lots before 6 p.m. or after 9 p.m.
The fireworks show begins at 9:30 p.m. and is expected to last about 18 minutes.
The city is also bringing back its Give Back to Soldiers initiative, collecting approved donation items for service members overseas through Airborne Angel Cadets.
On Sunday, a **Cruise-In classic car event** will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at 710 Pierce Road in Red Oak. Hosted by Way Cheap Fireworks and Gas Guzzlers of Ellis County, the event will feature classic cars, fireworks discounts, snow cones, Mr. Beefy’s Food Truck, The Creature Teacher display and more.
**Glenn Heights**
Glenn Heights will continue its **Sunset Concert Series** on Sunday, June 28, with **Chelsay Nicole**.
The local vocalist will perform with **Steven “Spud” Howard** and a live band at 7:30 p.m. at 1938 S. Hampton Road.
With fireworks, food trucks, music, cars, BBQ and family fun all on the schedule, Ellis County residents have plenty of ways to enjoy the weekend close to home.
