Start with a parade in Red Oak

Red Oak’s Founders Day kicks off with a 9 a.m. parade, followed by the festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Watkins Park, 100 Live Oak St.

The lineup includes food trucks, vendors, bands and entertainment, plus pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house, an obstacle course and archery. It’s an option for families looking to fill the morning and still have the afternoon open.

Try mead and catch live music at Scarborough Village

The Texas Mead & Music Festival runs 1–7 p.m. at Scarborough Village in Waxahachie, home of the Scarborough Renaissance Festival.

Organizers advertise more than 10 meaderies, five stages and over 60 vendors, along with seasonal food and a preview of Scarborough’s Hollow, the venue’s fall fantasy festival.

General admission tasting tickets for adults 21 and older include six mead samples and a commemorative tasting cup. Non-tasting admission options are also available, and children 4 and younger enter free. Find ticket options and more details on the festival’s website.

See the trucks, stay for the music in Waxahachie

More than 1,200 classic trucks are expected at Getzendaner Park for the 11th annual C10’s in the Park, running from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Truck registration is sold out, but spectators can attend free.

The celebration moves downtown for Party on the Square from 5:30–10 p.m. Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will select 85 trucks from the show for preferred parking around the Ellis County Courthouse.

Maddox Ross opens the live music lineup, followed by Jolie Holliday & Sonny Burgess at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited, whether they brought a truck or just want to enjoy an evening on the square.

Make a day of downtown Ennis

Start with a stroll through the Downtown Ennis Bluebonnet Market, then stop at the Ellis County Emergency Management Preparedness Fair, running 8 a.m. to noon at the Ennis Welcome Center, to learn about preparing your family for emergencies.

The Welcome Center will also feature quinceañera dresses and décor by S.E.A. Events & Design, celebrating culture and tradition.

Come evening, Viva La Herencia takes over Minnie McDowal Park from 5–9 p.m. The event, organized by Destination Ennis Non-Profit, will feature food supporting CROME Nonprofit, live DJ sets by DJ Bash, and a performance by Ballet Folklorico Esencia Mexicana.
